Gilmore Girls 16th Party

Birthday Girl and Her Two Besties
Luke's Cafe and Gilmore Girl Guests
Little Sis in Argyle
Altered Train Case
Sorry to be gone for so long but travel days and unpacking and office work...

McKenna's 16th birthday party was a blast!

My daughter should be a professional party planner. Guests came complete with argyle sweaters, flannel shirts, and masks of the cast. They entered Luke's cafe complete with GG theme song playing and framed pics of the cast all over the room. I have posted a few pics out of the nearly two hundred taken.

The train case altered by my daughter (check out her Etsy shop by visiting her blog) was my favorite gift. Inside was an envelope memory book. Each guest had emailed favorite memories of Ken previously and each was creatively placed on a card and slipped into it's own envelope. McKenna read them aloud to laughter, sighs, and I am sure a few tears.

How did she get to be such a lovely young lady overnite?

Did I mention the daisies, which are hard to get in Maine in winter? Yes, my daughter gave Ken her favorite flower, like Max did when he proposed to Lorelai.

I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

Picture Perfect Memory. I can't wait to scrapbook them and enjoy all over again.

Project Life Saturday

This is my afternoon designated to working on  Project Life Clementine album 2012. I love how this one turned out. I experimented with the Piknik photo program in Picasa. The cardboard stickers are 7 Gypsies but I purchased them years ago from QVC so not sure what they are called. My biggest dilemma is still deciding how much I want to add to the pages.

A Week's Passing

Where has the week flown to?

Did I blog on Monday?

Tuesday I went back to my trainer after 3 weeks off because of sickness, got groceries, made up beds for company, and cooked a homemade chicken soup.

I tried to blog from the hospital on Wednesday where I spent the day with Mom, but my Ipad would not cooperate. Actually, Pinterest was the problem, because I needed a photo.

Yesterday, I had to be out again. When I returned home around 3:00, I plopped into my recliner, covered with a blanket and went to sleep.

I started this crazy week with Bible study Monday night. There were only three of us, but it was one of those times when you can hear God challenge,"Want to start again, one more time?"we stood in a circle and each said,"Yes."

Simplicity Wins

As I worked on my album this weekend for last year, my big quandary was,"How much do I want to add to each page? I decided to keep it simple. My goal for this album was to get all my pictures in and journal about them. The turquoise Project Life kit is working great with my pics from last year:) Sorry about the shadows. I am still working out the bugs of taking pics with my IPad.

Life Map

Saturday morning seemed the perfect time to create a life map. Some people call them dream boards and various other names. Basically,it's a visual of what the next few months are going to look like.

You begin with a piece of poster paper. All I had was a small piece so I improvised. I made two small ones but I didn't like that idea and it was taking too much time. So I cut pieces from the second one and stapled them to the first. It's not a work of art but it works for me.

Second, gather a pile of magazines and go through with a pair of scissors and a glue stick. Cut out what you love, what jumps off the page and paste it to your poster - words, pictures, colors etc.

Put it up somewhere that you will see it and watch what happens. It's a lot of fun and a visual reminder of what direction you want to head in.

Returning to Me

I found my word for 2012 or rather it found me.

For the past few weeks, i have pondered several words: balance, contentment, equilibrium, fly, flight, grace etc.

"Yes, this is the one!"
"No, it's not."

Nothing felt right.

This morning as I was spending my quiet time, a book popped into my head that I'd seen my daughter looking at the other day. I opened it randomly and there it was. My word. I knew it.

Drum Roll Please...

Authentic

That's it. Authentic. Real. True to myself and what I love.

Sigh of relief. It was a battle to find the word, To connect. To be true. What will the journey be like this year, I wonder?

Moments Worth the Drive

I am quite tired today from all the time traveling but oh, the moments that made it worth it! We had a long lunch at Uno's, soup and salad and great desserts. I understand what God says about delighting in the details of our lives. I delight in the little moments with my girls.

Bundled in Joy

I have missed you bloggers. Time go away from me.

This morning hubby and I are taking a day trip and I get to see my girls! I wasn't feeling on top of the world this morning after a rough night. I think that chili I had for supper kept me awake.

But the sun is shining on this below zero morning and I bundled myself with a scarf which was a prayer buddy's gift to me. I wish you could see the sparkles in it. For some reason the scarf made me feel ready for the trip.

Did you ever see the Shopaholic movie? Remember the green scarf? Are you smiling yet?

Put something on today that will bundle you in joy and have a great day!

2012 Project Life Clementine Design

A few days ago, I posted my first page in my Project Life Album- A Look Back to 2011. I took so many good pictures last year and have been working on them all week. I will show you more later this week.

My goal today was to begin my 2012 album. I wanted to complete my title page and my first week's layout. I knew what I wanted on my title page but couldn't figure out which page protector they would fit in. I decided to take the time and play.

Pulling out a page protector 12x 12 with no pockets, I laid out what I wanted, then sewed my own pockets. Thankfully I remembered to journal before I sewed them in but I forgot about the back side. Thus I pulled put the same type of protector and filled it with two pieces of 12 by 12 papers. You can see the polka dots through the spaces on my layout. The other matches my second layout. More on that later too. Then I secured the pages together with a silver paper clip.

It's not perfect but I had a great time being creative and I love it!

Rambling

The week after Christmas I was coming down with this cold ( a simple little word for such a force that cracks ribs). I felt so bad because my girls were here to visit for a few days and I wasn't 100 percent. Nevertheless, we had so much fun. It felt good to laugh! My daughter told me that I need more laughter in my life and she is right!

Over on Ann Voskamp's blog, she is challenging us to once again count our joys, only she gives specific directions. It is worth checking out.

I have also been pondering my word for 2012. I thought I had it today but when I went to the dictionary, it didn't feel right.

One of the reasons that I haven't found my word yet is that I am still winding up last year's word- Disencumber. Some of us are slow learners.

I am still watching Christmas movies that I taped. The Christmas Wish brought me to tears. Last night I watched ...I forgot the name but it was about the mall Santa and the girl who was trying to save the mall and her promotion. It was magical.

Today I had to correct a few mistakes as I worked in the office. I am definitely not up to multi- tasking yet.

There you have my ramblings. That's life for me at the moment.

YAY!

This has been a rough week physically. Then smack dab in the middle of it, something wonderful happens.

Remember a couple of days ago, I posted about Project Life and returning to scrapbooking? I also tweeted the picture and Becky Higgins noticed it. That's how I ended up on her blog!

Scroll down the names and you will see Paula. Okay, you may need a magnifying glass but click on "her blog" above. You will be taken to the post and scroll down and down some more. You will see me.

YAY!
I will post more pages soon.

Proud of Her

My daughter was published for the second time in this issue of Art Journaling magazine. She has taken the struggles of life and turned them into something beautiful. Actually it is she that has become beautiful.
I discovered in this issue that she is a writer as well as an artist. I am so proud of her accomplishments but prouder still of her persevering spirit.

Smiling Through The Pain

I was sitting in the doctor's office today looking at the pictures in my phone. I had taken a bunch of Ken & Lily last week playing with a fireworks type app on my iPad. I fell in love with my girls all over again as I looked at the photos and the first smile of my day emerged.

Another sleepless coughing night left me exhausted and in pain. The doctor thinks I either pulled a muscle or cracked a rib while coughing so hard. Hopefully the prescription she gave me will change the pattern.

I love that in the midst of it, I had something to smile about :)

Project Life

For the past few years my scrapbooking supplies have lived in totes. My art desk was upstairs covered with clutter.

Recently, however, I began to feel that stirring inside to return to scrap booking but I knew I didn't want to go back to the way I used to do it because I don't have that much time to spare anymore. Then I discovered Becky Higgins Project Life. So I ordered two kits!

One will be for all the great photos I took in 2011 in random order and the other will be for 2012. It is the one thing I am most excited about for this coming year.

Here is my first page minus journaling which I will do some evening as I watch tv. I need to decide what pens I want to use.

What creative energies are stirring in you for 2012?

2012 Scripture Verse

Psalm 91:1
She who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty whose power no foe can withstand. (Amplified Version)
