Squirrels, Horses, Black Flies...O Happy Spring!

I haven't been able to find the time to even read my favorite blogs the past few days, let alone write my own posts. I've missed my blog sisterhood :)

Spring appears to have finally arrived in northern Maine, along with the critters.

I have the yearly ground hog under my house to contend with, along with spiders invading my kitchen sink and bathroom tub.

Then last week, a squirrel got in the house. I made a trip to Lowes for a living trap, which I couldn't figurte out how to set up. A couple of friends stopped but to help, but to no avail.

"It would take a hundred pound squirrel to set this off."
My friend's comment sent us into fits of laughter.

The next day, I pulled out of my yard to head out for a much-needed massage and found myself facing a horse coming down the middle of the road.

I rounded off the week with 4 black fly bites after a few minutes outside.

And I waited all winter for this.
O Happy Spring!

Fun, Finds, and Freezing

I left you early Saturday morning to spend the day at the Caribou city wide yard sale with my friend Barb and her family. I was so exhausted yesterday I barely made it to church :)

We had a ball despite the cold temperatures. I had to buy a huge fleece pullover at a yard sale to put over my jacket in order to make it through the day. I tried to talk one woman in to selling me her gloves, all to no avail.

Barb, an avid garage sale gal, has passed her passion on to her daughters and granddaughters. Thus at every sale, we pulled up in two cars and out piled the eight of us. They teased me that I wouldn't make it to the end of the day.
"People who go with us never return the following year,"they warned.

Determination kept me warm and energized from 7:15 am to 5:00pm when we finally stopped for supper.

Her daughter picked up the find of the day, a rustic black shelf for $10.

I found a few books, a couple of old suitcases and a frame that I'll share later. All in all, it was the fun and friendship that stood out above all else.

Marking my calendar for next year :)

Saturday Sale

Off to the town-wide yard sale for the day, if I can make it that long :)
