Laughter

This week's Joy Diet theme is laughter. I admit that I skimmed some of this chapter, partly because of time and partly because I was a bit disappointed with it. I only laughed once through the entire reading of it.
It takes a lot to make me laugh. I guess I am a normally serious person, so I cherish laughter. I could ramble on about the things or people that make me laugh, but my goal was to keep this short today.
So for right now, the Gilmore Girls are my source of laughter. I am watching my first season and loving it. It's quirky and funny and moving. I hope every season is the same way.
When I uploaded my photo I realized I got a thumbnail, but decided to keep it. It marks my need to let laughter grow in my life on a daily basis.

Similar to our practice of noticing what our treats are, I like this practice of noticing what makes the laughs come. You are making cool decisions about your blog post, listening to your own truth. May your laughter grow over time, naturally and easily!

I love the word and concept of grace, too.

It's interesting to me how many people are describing themselves as naturally serious people. I remember many years ago discussing humor and laughter in a world that offers so much pain to so many with a priest friend. He made the distinction between serious and somber. He felt that it was important to take many things seriously, but to not live somberly. Something like that. I'm not doing it justice. But I've found the concept worth remembering.

I'm glad that there are many things that make you laugh - Martha's chapter didn't make me laugh much, but that's ok. It's an important part of our diet anyway.

I love that we are thinking about what makes us laugh. I didn't laugh at the chapter, but I definitely thought about what makes me laugh and I'm hoping to act on that thought. :)
